President Julianne’s Message:
As the president, I’m so proud of how my team and all our members continue to work together to keep the Wiarton Propeller Club moving forward. Whether it’s organizing events, improving our facilities, or creating new policies, every contribution makes a difference. Thank you for your dedication and ideas – together, we’re making our club stronger than ever!

We’re thrilled to welcome our newest member, Kelli Driscoll, to the club. Let’s make her feel at home as she joins our vibrant community.
Club Highlights:
Cleaning Duties: Andy has suggested moving cleaning responsibilities to Facility Management. Share your thoughts so we can finalize this decision.
Bar Manager Needed: Andy highlighted the need for a Bar Manager. If we find someone, he’d like to oversee both Food and Beverage.
Facility Updates:
Shuffleboard lines are being painted Friday at 9:30 a.m. Volunteers are welcome!
A new locked mailbox is in progress.
Exciting Events:
Membership Drive: Mark your calendars for the Willie Winter Warm-Up on Jan. 30! Bring your family and friends for a fun night. Volunteers needed—reach out to Kim!

Bar News:
We’ve officially secured our permanent liquor license! Policies and signage are in the works.

Treasurer’s Notes:
November was a great month for the club! A big thank-you to everyone who contributed. Donations were made to support our local Food Bank, the firefighter’s toy drive, and the Chamber of Commerce.
Giving Back:
Leftovers from our Christmas dinner helped feed over 50 people through Tess’s Kitchen. Thank you to everyone who made this possible!
Volunteers Needed:
Craft Sale (Feb. 2): Help set up tables at 6:20 a.m.
Spaghetti Dinner: Cindy is looking for helpers. A meeting will be announced soon.
Bid Euchre Tournament (Jan. 28): Come join the fun!

Facility Upgrades
Toilets: Four new toilets installed, with two more approved to complete the upgrade.
Soffit and Fascia: Finished and matching the front of the building beautifully!
Shuffleboard Lines: Volunteers needed—options include laser printing or painting.
Locked Mailbox: Progressing nicely.
Safety and Budget
Safety Audit: Checklist complete; the first audit is coming soon.
Budget 2025: Approved, with surplus added to the building reserve.
Grant Updates
CFGB Grant: received for the new sign and fascia/soffit. The sign will go up when the weather improves.
Seniors Grant: Submit your ideas by January 17th—suggestions so far include fitness classes, crafts, fraud prevention, and estate planning workshops.
Membership and Events
Membership Renewals: Dues are $25, due January 1st.
Membership Drive: We’re planning an event before Willie Weekend—stay tuned!
Craft Sale: December 7th.
Christmas Dinner: December 15th. Cards at 3:00 PM, Dinner at 5:00 PM, $20/person. Guests welcome! Enjoy roast beef by Tim and Sarah.
Heritage and Fundraising
The Heritage Committee is now displaying memorabilia in the main hall and reviewing books for donation to Bruce County Archives or the library.

Membership News
Condolences: Remembering our fellow member, Henry White.
The Wiarton community mourned the passing of Henry White, who passed away peacefully at his residence on October 27th, 2024, at the age of 86.
Henry, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, was survived by his wife Marlene, sons Kenneth and Kevin, grandchildren Emily and Hannah, and many cherished relatives.
A funeral service was held at the George Funeral Home in Wiarton on Friday, November 1st, at 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Bruce Peninsula Hospitals Foundation were appreciated.
Memories of Henry may be shared online at www.georgefuneralhome.com.
Recruitment: A Facebook draft inviting new members will go live in December.

Here’s what’s been happening at the Club! A warm thank-you to everyone contributing to our success and growth.
Fire Drill Success
Fire Safety Drill: Successfully completed with 24 members safely evacuated. Drills will now be held every six months—next one is in March 2025.
Facility Updates
New Sign: A grant has been applied for to install a "Meeting Place" sign at the front of the building.
Toilets and Storage: Oversized toilet installation and liquor storage improvements are underway.
Fascia and Soffit Repairs: Applications for capital grants are in progress.
Painting Projects: Mike and Sue will paint the railings in the coming weeks.

Chair Storage Reno Complete: Big thanks to Steve, John, and Neil for finishing this project! Cody and Sue helped tidy it up afterward.
Patio Cleaning: Rod cleaned the patio (again, thank you!). Heavy rains bring back debris, but new accessible picnic tables are in the works.
Front Railing Painting: Black paint will be used for a fresh look. Volunteers are welcome to help Sue Brown.

Thanks to all who joined us in person and via Zoom. Attendance was strong, and spirits were high as we tackled a busy agenda.
Highlights from the Meeting
1. Facility Updates
Building Enhancements: Work on fascia and soffit continues with grant applications underway.
Parking Lot: Plans for repainting lines and resurfacing are progressing, pending grant approval.
Air Conditioner: Maintenance scheduled post-vacation to ensure we stay cool all summer.
Garbage Bins: The new bins are here but need some adjustments for safety.

41 members are paid and active. Let’s make sure our Smart Serve and Food Handler certificates are filed in the kitchen binder.

Hello, Propeller Club members! April will be a busy and exciting month. Here’s a snapshot of all the happenings and plans in the works. We were thrilled to have a great turnout, including several members joining via Zoom! A special thank-you to Gayle for managing attendance.
Facilities Updates
Building Improvements: Work on the meeting place sign, propeller painting, and roof repair is scheduled for better weather.
Office Space: Renovations are nearly complete, with painting done and tools ready to be moved into new storage.
New Garbage Cans: Steve will add lids with holes to encourage proper sorting.
Front Door: Repairs are pending as we await the contractor’s schedule.

Jackie's 75th Anniversary Gala (April 20): This milestone event is just around the corner. Dinner tickets are selling fast, and we’re preparing for a night to remember. Captain Miller’s portrait will be unveiled with his family present.

Exciting Updates Around the Club
Facility Upgrades:
Air Conditioning: Mike has secured a deal with Riddell’s, and we’re moving forward with the installation!
Storage Solutions: The new storage room by the washrooms is complete—thanks, Mike and Steve! Next up: clearing out the front storage space.
Sprucing Up the Clubhouse: The propeller painting and roof repair projects will kick off this spring.
Parking Lot Improvements: A spray painter (bought for just $12!) will help us freshen up the parking lines when the weather warms up.
Front Door Repairs: Steve has contacted the repair team to keep our clubhouse welcoming and secure.
Membership and Budget News
Membership Renewals: 37 members have renewed—thank you! If you haven’t yet, please send in your dues ASAP.
Online Bookings: The website is buzzing! Members can now book events, register for March Break activities, and pay via e-transfer.

Community Support: We’re cooking the Sauble Sandpipers’ Christmas dinner again this year—mark December 9th!
Privacy Reminder: Alzheimer’s group rentals on the 3rd Tuesday morning of each month require full privacy—no exceptions, please.

February 2024
Our meeting kicked off with President Julianne Hull welcoming everyone at 7:00 p.m. and Gayle taking attendance.
Facility Upgrades:
The front building sign is getting a facelift, with a grant application in the works.
The propeller out front is getting a fresh coat of paint, thanks to a great deal at Princess Auto.
The dry wall repair in the cloakroom and sound system installation are complete, and the leaking roof fix is holding up until better weather.
We're moving forward with the electrical service upgrade for the new air conditioner/dehumidifier to keep things cool and comfortable.
Strategic Planning:
Jenny Bell presented a strategic plan that will help guide the club's future, focusing on sustainability, growth, and community engagement. It’s a great blueprint for the next chapter!
Membership & Fundraising:
Membership dues are $25, with 32 members already signed up for 2024.
Our 75th Anniversary Gala on April 20th is shaping up to be a fantastic evening, with a special talk from Paul White, student-made videos, and Midnight Blue as the band. We’re expecting a surplus and volunteers are welcome to join in the celebration!
Rentals & Community Events:
The club continues to be a hub for community events, from Spaghetti Dinners to Craft Shows and Euchre Tournaments. We’re also gearing up for several exciting rentals throughout the year, including weddings, fundraisers, and more!
Volunteers & Recognition:
A special shout-out to Doug and Kim, nominated for Volunteer of the Year. Don’t miss the Volunteer Dinner on April 18th!
Treasurer's Report:
Our financials are on track, with the operating budget being finalized soon. We’re also closing out the year’s financials with a solid outlook.

Successful Events: The club hosted several successful events throughout the year, including Oktoberfest and the Christmas Dinner.
Community Engagement: We continue to actively engage with the community through various initiatives and partnerships.
Facility Improvements: Ongoing improvements to the club facilities include new toilets, painting, and a new sound system (coming soon!).
Membership Drive: We encourage all members to help recruit new members to join our vibrant club community.
Repairs & Maintenance: Several projects are on track, including the new card tables and drywall repairs. A new sound system is being installed on January 8th-10th.
Community Services Recovery Fund: The team is progressing well, with strategic plans due by month-end.
Rentals: A busy month ahead with several exciting events like the Firefighters dinner on January 20th and a Propeller Club craft show on February 3rd.
Marine Heritage: Rod Lee is making great strides, with the webpage gaining traction and over 170 sailors listed.
Fundraising: The 75th Anniversary dinner is set for April 20th, with exciting plans for dinner, speakers, and a dance.
Spaghetti Dinner: The town grant application is in, and Cindy Deakins has volunteered to be the convener.

Marilyn (Mel) Miller was praised for her exceptional cooking and will receive a generous donation as thanks.
