In 1994, the Youth Focus Group was created to bring fun and engaging opportunities to young people in South Bruce Peninsula. At the time, there weren’t many activities available, so the group worked hard to organize day trips, March Break programs, and a Youth Centre where kids and teens could connect and have fun.
By 1996, the Wiarton Propeller Club stepped in to support the group, helping them secure funding to expand their programs. Thanks to this partnership, local youth have enjoyed trips to amusement parks, Laser Quest, outdoor adventure centers, movies, skating, snow tubing, and even skiing and snowboarding.
For years, the Youth Centre—once housed in the old Tom Norris school bus terminal—was a gathering place for young people, fostering friendships and a sense of community. Today, the Youth Focus Group continues to provide affordable and free activities on PA (Professional Activity) days and is always looking for new ways to create fun, learning, and growth opportunities for local youth.
